This all time favorite ranks in the top 3 in Vienna every year and is certainly my best choice as well. The only downside could be, that it's not located in the center. But just 4 stops on the U1 from the opera house take you to ice cream paradise. You can also combine it with a visit to the fabolous "Zum alten Beisl" restaurant around the corner. You may either sit inside and for instance try their famous "Eismarillenknödel" (faux dumplings made from frozen vanilla cream sauce, filled with apricot puree and rolled in ground hazelnuts) or grab a cone and enjoy it in the little park nearby. Don't miss out their amazing hazelnut ice cream!

The oldest one in town (since 1886) and certainly amongst the top 3 in the city. Huge collection of more than 100 different types of ice cream and there is always at least half of them available. If you speak a bit of German, go to their website, there is a calendar, where you can see which types they offer throughout the month. Apple strudel is a must, whenever they offer it!

No sports cars here, but definitely the best newcomer in town.They opened in 2014 and have almost reached the top already. Hazelnuts from the Italian region Piedmont, almonds and pistachios from Sicily.... it doesn't get more Italian in Vienna than this. If you want to enjoy their ice cream in a more comfortable atmosphere, get it at their Cafe Ferrari in Annagasse 3, not even 2 minutes away.

This longtime favorite opened here more than 50 years ago and could keep its reputation ever since then. Their nougat ice cream is already worth a visit and their latest invention "Kornelkirsche" (cornelian cherry... I had to google it as well :-)) certainly worth a try! Get a cone or take a seat inside, it's only a five minutes walk from St. Stephen's.

Here you can enjoy your ice cream without a bad conscience! It's handmade from self-milked organic milk (from their own farm), about 20 types of ice cream (including 8 vegan), also seasonal new creations of asparagus, honey, goat's cheese or wild garlic. Only 18 m2, no seats and be prepared to wait quite a while, especially on hot summer days.

As I already said: I've never been there. But it's very popular amongst the ever-growing vegan community. They even have biodegradable sundaes and ice cream spoons. There are eight of their shops throughout the city, this one here is the closest one to the center. Not even 10 minutes walking from Schwedenplatz. But check out their website, maybe another one is closer to your hotel.

"Beisl" means "pub" and that's what it is. The big surprise here is their chef, who, for years was the chef in the city's gourmet temple "Meinl am Graben". One day he got sick of working for the jet set and took over a small restaurant in Vienna's suburbs. Gulasch, Schnitzel.. here you get the best quality at very affordable prices. It's easy to reach as well. Take subway line U1 from the opera, and you are there in 10 minutes. Their goose in November and December is a must! Maybe you want to skip dessert though, Vienna's best ice cream parlor is just around the corner!
